Heaven Is for Real: A Little Boy's Astounding Story of His Trip to Heaven and Back by Todd Burpo

3.0

After a Bible Study group discussion about heaven, a friend lent this book to me. I read a few reviews and was convinced it was going to end up on the 'unfinished' shelf. And yet, we find ourselves here... finished.

The story is a great testimony and gives a person a broader understanding of what heaven will be like. You could also read Revelations, I guess. The truth of the story is not for me to question... "Me thinks the lady man doth protest too much" crossed my mind at least once a chapter. And yet, I continued to turn the page.
I personally think that what has made this book marketable and successful is more to do with Lynn Vincent, the 'co-author'. The writing is engaging, emotional and fluid. While the book was only 150-odd pages, there was a lot of rambling and product placement (I mean really!! Is this a thing in books?). It could have easily been 80 pages or less.
So, for all my complaints, I would recommend this to people who read casually and are interested in what heaven might hold.
