The Rosie Effect
by Graeme Simsion
I loved the first one, and this one was still fun but it felt a lot more forced. A central problem of the plot is driven by an unreasonable character without sufficient backstory to understand that unreasonableness, and other aspects of it feel a bit forced. The final resolution didn't quite sell with me either.
The end result was to leave me happy enough to have read it but considering it nowhere near the class of the first one.
