Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid
5.0
I, surprisingly, loved the format of this book! It was a shock at first to see that it was just like a transcript, but wow. I cried twice because of how heartbreaking Daisy's life was. I could relate to some aspects of her story, and just wow. Because of how much I related to Daisy, I came to dislike Camila. I know she was a great character, but how was I supposed to cope with what felt like me getting put on the back burner for Camila??? But I somehow managed in the end lol. However, her "He loves you. But he will never leave me for you.," speech was a punch in the gut, man.
I reread this book about 1-1/2 to 2 years after the first time. This time, I feel like I matured enough into seeing that Camila was never a character I shouldve disliked. The first time I read, I felt an attachment to Daisy’s loneliness above all else. I had never been in a relationship nor did I have any idea of how common Camila and Billy and Daisys situation is. Since facing something similar in my relationship (though not being quite as strong as Camila was able to unfortunately) I realized that she was extremely respectable and I love her character. But someone I love loving another woman may have made me crash out a bit more than Camila did. 😭 Still great and I loved the format and story.
