Here is what I liked about this book:
1. I liked the audiobook a lot. I think it was really well read and produced!
2. I liked the sense of humor between the couple, it was really cute and lightened the mood when it got a little dark.
3. I liked that there wasn’t the dumb third act miscommunication trope that drives me nuts in most romance books! This was refreshing and I wish more authors would do this.
4. I liked that the two main characters spoke about going to therapy and how it was helpful and healthy.
5. I liked the jobs that the main characters had, they were both smart and independent.
Here is what I didn’t love (spoilers):
1. I didn’t love the writing style. It was basic.
2. I didn’t like the mob subplot that was happening. I know something had to happen as the “cleanup”, but that wasn’t my favorite part of the plot.
3. I didn’t love that he was on TikTok, that was kind of cringey.
4. I didn’t like a lot of the language the author used when describing the sex scenes. Like personifying Aly’s ovaries, that was dumb. It was also dumb when Aly said she needed the morning after pill even though she was on birth control because she can’t trust her ovaries and eggs with Josh’s sperm. Like ma’am, you are a badass trauma nurse, you know that’s not how that works.
5. It was too long.
Overall, it was a fun listen. It was definitely different than I thought it was going to be, and in a good way.
