A Curious Beginning
by Deanna Raybourn
This book was a fun adventure set in Victorian England, with Veronica bucking tradition and making her own rules. It was a fun romp, but I didn't get the sense that they were really accomplishing anything, other than just thumbing their nose at society and hanging out. I didn't feel like we really got to know Veronica, only got to have front row seats to the Veronica show. She was so far above all the other characters (and the readers) that she wouldn't give us a glimpse of anything authentic.
Who knows, as everything is weird and hard lately, with RWA imploding in full view of the world, as this was light and fluffy, but I was hoping for something a little more substantial.
