This is fine. There are some moments of really graphic horror. I appreciated that aspect of this book. The main character doesn’t really have much of a personality. The book seemed like it almost has something really profound to say, and it sets up a lot of symbols (eyes and spiders, for example) and a lot of ideas that never cohere into something particularly meaningful. I also thought some of the language was too anachronistic. This one also just… ends— it needed a falling action that was expanded coming off the climax. This book does present an interesting take on vampires. It just needed more development in almost all areas. I read this super quickly though, so I did enjoy it.
Graphic: Body horror, Domestic abuse, Gore
