Promises

I originally read this book quite a few years ago and immediately fell for the small town of Coda, the characters, and the author. Having it rerelease with a stunning new cover is kind of like revisiting a beloved friend for a glass of wine, a lot of laughs, some incredible memories, and a lot of sentimentality. In other words, a really fantastic time.
I had almost forgotten how much I adore Jared although I don’t really understand him, to be honest. Then again, I’ve never lived in one place my whole life, much less a small town, so I suppose I don’t relate to the concept of loving a geographical place so much that I would willingly sacrifice some of the things that make me happy. I definitely love and appreciate his relationship with his mom, brother, and sister-in-law, but not feeling comfortable enough with his neighbors, so to speak, to be able to teach at the high school for fear of repercussions would have had me living my life somewhere else and coming to visit my family. And that doesn’t even include Jared being alone with no potential prospects for a love life.
