Flip the Script by Lyla Lee

Alright, this one was very sweet, but also... lacklustre. Part of the fault is definitely on me, who entered the book hoping we'd have more drama and depth, that the story would brew some tearful stuff and feel more inspiring, become some one of a kind YA, you know?

I'm not stating it won't be any of those things to you, but as someone that has read her fair share of YA and, just perhaps after this, has outgrown the genre, it was simply a nice book. The main characters are all pretty nice, but none of them impressed me or stood out to me. Their backgrounds had space for more complexity, but alas, I don't think there was any aim to follow that path.

It wanted to be a cute, heart-warming and hopeful novel, and it did that. The representation was clearly a highlight, just like the fast passing and the almost picturesque "tour" through many famous Korean sites.
