Freedom Is a Constant Struggle: Ferguson, Palestine, and the Foundations of a Movement by Angela Y. Davis
5.0
4.5 - I really wish the producers of the audiobook would have had someone else read the questions, rather than having Davis read both the questions and her answers.
Wow, the wisdom and experience that Angela Davis has in the fight for Justice, Freedom, and Equal Rights blows me away. Getting to hear this book read in her voice felt like a gift! I’ve never heard an advocate speak with such clear focus, yet with such a global and intersectional view. Without watering down her message in the *slightest,* Davis explained how advocating for changes with Palestine, US presidential elections, police shootings, the prison industrial complex and mass-capitalism; all derive from the same goals.
In this collection of interviews and speeches, Davis drove home the fact that “racism is not individual” and that meticulous organizational efforts have to be made to move the cause of freedom along.
“Our histories never unfold in isolation. We cannot truly tell what we consider to be our own histories without knowing the others stories.”
