Echoes of Time by Calia Read

4.0

This was good but I didn't love it as much as the first two in the trilogy.

Etienne at the end of book 2 time travels to present day, and he's now reunited with Serene and of course Serene's parents are very confused now. Meanwhile in the past Livingston was attacked and is severely injured but with his sister in Savannah and his brother not there after time traveling what's going to happen to him.

So, I mentioned this in one of my updates as I was reading this but I found that I enjoyed Serene going back to the past more than I did Etienne coming to the future. It was still interesting and I liked a lot of the moments but Serene going to the past was more interesting. More things were going on.

My biggest issue with this last book was for the first 60-65% not much happens. Both the story line in the past and the story line in the present/future are at a standstill. Etienne and Serene aren't doing much to try and go back to the past, meanwhile Livingston, Nathalie, Rainey, and Asa are trying to help Livingston get better but they're also not doing much and not much happens to push the plot along. I just wanted something to happen.

One thing that bothered me but at the same time makes sense is that
SpoilerSerene's family never is let in on the fact that Serene time traveled. Not even Ian, who Serene is very close to. I understand it because the story didn't really need them to know. The time line, seemed to already be "erasing" Serene from that time line but I still really wanted a little bit of them knowing and what their reactions would be.

I did really love Rainey's and Livingston's interactions. They were the bright, shining spot of joy in the past. I'm really looking forward to their book (or books).

Oh and Oliver...Oliver.
SpoilerAs soon as he took over Etienne's office, I knew he was up to no good. You don't just take over someone's office when everyone in the family or close to the family (namely Nathalie and Asa) is saying that they are just away and they are fine but Oliver still making moves like they are.

Overall I enjoyed this final book but I wish more happened or something more interesting took place in that first half of the book.

This series/trilogy as a whole though is amazing. I will be rereading them, I will continue to gush about them. These books were just such a joy to read and experience and I'm so glad I have them on my shelves.
