The Hound of the Baskervilles by Arthur Conan Doyle
2.0

I do not understand why this is the most popular Sherlock Holmes book, the man is absent from the majority of it and you don't get to see half the detective work. I was basically never intrigued by this book. I found it to be very dull, and new details never heightened the confusion. I felt like there was a cool setup, and then the whole middle is side tangent.

I do like the way it changes narrative styles based on how Watson is writing. I like the reveal of the second man in the moor. The climax is pretty fun, as there's finally some energy. But I think the whole thing suffers from its age, and how many iterations of this have come since. This is my first Doyle, so I'll have to try again down the line, but I like Christie much better.
