The Ka of Gifford Hillary by Dennis Wheatley

Did not finish book.
So, part of the plot is that this bloke Gifford Hillary is involved in national security, and there's a scene early on where he explains this big plan he's got for protecting the nation from the Soviets. It's preceded by the narrator saying that you actually don't need to know the details of the plan, only that it exists, and that it's perfectly fine to skip to the end of the chapter. This was an obvious red flag, but I ploughed through and read the plan -- which, it turned out, is completely stupid and entirely destroyed any respect I had for Hillary or interest I had in what happened to him. I gave up there. I didn't even get to any of the supernatural shenanigans promised by the blurb.
