The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami
5.0
Wow. Murakami is one of a kind, truly in a class by himself. I don't know what it is about his writing, but he has a way of transporting one into his narrative that is unmatched. Moreover, I feel like I know him somehow, very intimately, even though I've obviously never met him and I've only read three of his novels which do not divulge anything about him personally. One just gets the feeling that what you're reading when you're reading his work is his heart and soul and guts and his very essence, spread across a page in breathtakingly simple and beautiful prose. Top-notch.
