Rot & Ruin
by Jonathan Maberry
This was a fantastic book, with every element of a good book in it. I've got to say, for someone who was really skeptical (despite reassurance from friends about how awesome it was...I should have listened) about reading their first zombie post-apocalypse novel, I absolutely loved it. You have family issues, teenage social complexities, a love interest, really funny humour, an unexpected plot twist and well written characters. It is a great zombie post-apocalypse novel, and gives you a different perspective on zombies and what people would be like after such an apocalypse. I have absolutely no regrets about losing six hours of sleep so I could finish it before the "morning", and I would definitely recommend it to anyone who is either debating whether it's worth reading, and also to anyone who hasn't yet tried a zombie novels before. Honestly, give it a shot. You might be surprised.
