Demon King by Elizabeth Briggs

This was a little boring. The characters all felt flat, everything seemed to happen so abruptly, including the beginning of the book. For a story that was about to span 3 books, it sure started off with too much insta love. I liked the concept but the execution was so blah. DNF@45%.

Both the hero and the heroine were the cliché-est possible characters. The heroine "liked books" and had hints of persephone in her personality, which was almost completely non-existent. Super original(sarcasm :3). The hero was just rich and had a gazillion cars and properties and whatnot, that's the entirety of his persona. The premise was so promising, what with all the reincarnations and stuff, soooo much could have been done with it. But nothing really felt out of the ordinary to me, especially considering the supernatural elements felt completely tacked on. If the minor appearances of incubi/succubi/shifters were ignored, this book would basically be another fifty shades rip-off. I'm just gonna get out while I'm ahead. How could this series be justified to have 3 books, I'll never know.
