Love the pacing, the narration (both the audiobook and how the story was told, to whom), and the reflections on cultural shifts in understanding. The line "feeling like I'm fattening [young girl] for slaughter before 7th grade" and the additional quip "but what's the alternative? Starving her?" Just intense.
