Of Mice and Men
by John Steinbeck
Anytime I read steinbeck, I absolutely hate it. I understand that he was writing about the great depression and 'real life' but a lot of what he discusses feels unecessary to me. what was the point of strangling the puppies? how did that matter or add to the story? A lot of his characters aren't super likeable or relatable either, he writes them in a way that feels detached and unsympathetic. I don't know, just a bad book in my opinion: no point, no lessons learned, just felt sad and hopeless afterwards.
