I should probably stop reading the whole series if I am only going to read one ARC, but I just can’t help myself. And that's how I ended up with this book. I signed myself up for Sunflowers, and even though it says I do not have to read the first two books, I couldn’t just leave it at that.
So we will start with the first book in this series – Marigolds, Mischief and Murder. Marigolds are my favourite flowers – check, mischief – I am not so sure about that, murder – check. We follow Gwen Stevens, the main character in this book and apparently in the whole small town where she lives in. I like this town and the people who live there, the author did a great job with their description and with showing us their relationship with Gwen. She is a very nice person and I am sure anyone who reads this story will like her. Also Finn, the new police detective who moved to the town from the big city, and to my surprise is funny and sweet and he is trying to fit into his new home which I really appreciate.
I like how Gwen’s relationship with Finn is shown and how it's slowly developing into something more, I like their scenes together, and how are they communicate and joke around. Oh, and I forgot about Chris, Gwen’s best friend and secret crush. To be honest, he wasn’t my favourite character and I am definitely Team Finn. God knows how it will end up eventually between them.
Besides my long rant about the main characters, Gwen is trying to help Finn solve the murder that happened in the town, and in doing so, she runs into things she shouldn’t. She also tries to find out the real name of the new police detective, as she think that Finn must be a short version of some other name which I thought was funny, and towards the end of the book I wasn’t sure what was more important for me – finding out who the killer or what his name was.
I felt like there was constantly something happening in this story, which was nice and kept me reading faster than I expected. I enjoyed this book and can’t wait to read the next one (which I am going to do right now, I just had to write this down so I do not get it mixed up).
