All I Said Was True by Imran Mahmood

3.0

I had high hopes for this book, from the blurb on the back and the opening chapters. So I’m a bit torn about giving it only 3 stars, but it didn’t quite deliver for me, sadly. As others have said, the flipping from then to now sometimes caused confusion, and Layla the narrator definitely seemed a little unhinged to me - far too much cerebral neurotic pondering at times, and none of the characters felt particularly vivid to me. I kept reading to the end, but I can’t say I look back and think “wow”, sadly.
