Desert World Rebirth by Lyn Gala

4.0

A 3.5 really but it kept me up reading until after 1am, so I’ll give it an extra 1/2 point for being increasingly engrossing as the story went on.

I like stories of diplomacy and different cultures encountering each other, particularly when you already know the underdog is going to do better than expected because story structure. So, this was fun.

And I liked seeing the heroes now fully emerged from their previous woe-is-me lives, now spreading their wings. Temar’s journey particularly was great, despite the action occasionally being a bit too improbable. He has emerged as someone I want to read more about.

Shan I’m less interested in. Bravo for the author for having a religious character- too many avoid religion entirely. On the other hand, I just don’t like him because he seems less intelligent than Temar. And I find the 12 year age difference slightly meh.
