Every Little Piece of My Heart by Non Pratt

4.0

I will be honest; I bought this book because of the cover and the author. Did not even read the blurb before. I enjoyed it and I am glad I read it (in a day).
This book has some mystery vibes: who is Freya, why she sent the parcel, why she left, why those 4 people chosen to receive the parcel? It keeps you reading as you want to unravel the mystery.
Amazing work with the multiple voices. I like reading books where different characters have the chance to speak and present their story and their opinions. It feels much more powerful and impacting. Not only does this book have multi character chapters, it has a wider variety of character background and gender identity: Asian, Queer, Chronic Illness.
The plot is well written, and each mini chapter peals a new layer in order to get to the centre and unravel the mystery. The story starts on a Friday, when Sophie receives a parcel from her best friend, Freya, who has been gone to Manchester for some time, and who chose to cut everyone out from her previous life. The story is like a game of ‘pass the parcel’ – a small gift for each person that opens the parcel and a name on the parcel inside, with the promise that there will be treasure at the end. Read the book and find out how the 4 (or maybe 5) main characters interact and build relationships.
I have enjoyed this book and I will be recommending it to my friends.
