One Shameless Night
by A.M. Hargrove
Okay, I wanted to give this author another chance because I enjoyed For the Love of English but I didn't enjoy the first book of this series. Anyway, I loved Piper's independence and her go-getter attitude. I was concerned for a second at the beginning because I thought she was going to be extremely forward like Evan was in the first book of this series. Turns out, she understands boundaries but also doesn't take crap from men. Sam was a twist I hadn't really expected to be such a big part of the book but it kept me up reading late because it was intense. Alessandro and Piper met on a plane and things got heated. Piper finds out that he is a visiting professors, gets transferred from his class, and finds out that he has a son, Gabriele. Gabriele is bright and inquisitive, he moves the plot along. He is very adamant that Piper become his mom.
When Piper was kidnapped by Sam, I felt her panic and I felt sad to see what she had to go through. I loved that Alessandro was understanding even when she got angry at him out of fear. I love that he was patient with her. Alessandro's family owns a winery which means he has money and Piper doesn't care about any of that. Alessandro has an ex-wife who was in jail for being in a car accident with Gabriele and Francesca (who died in the accident). Chiara, the ex-wife, is insane. I do wish that she wasn't a wrap up conclusion villain. I wish that her big moment had been when she showed up unexpectedly and tried to take Gabriele. Chiara sending someone to the states to kidnap Gabriele was a little unbelievable but it worked out in the end. Also, Sam was convicted which was good because I don't know if Piper could have ever felt safe again without him locked away.
Overall, a really good book. I loved Alessandro and Piper's chemistry, they put Gabriele first, and their relationship seemed organic for the most part.
