OMG! so first of all you need to read part 1 which is Wings of Ebony, do not I repeat do not read this without reading that first. So glad Rue is back and the author did not have us waiting too long for the sequel. In Ashes of Gold Rue is trying to remember what happened to her when she was locked up without her magic, but she knows that whatever happened she can not give up on her people. Rue is still trying to fit in with having magic and helping her family but she its all a learning process. I love that she is learning who she is and learning to trust herself more throughout the book as it goes on. Rue is definitely not one to mess with, with such a big heart and so much determination she is determined to help her people and get the magic returned and defeat the Chancellor.
It made no sense that I was up at 2am reading the book, but I needed to know what was going to happen. I needed to know who was going to betray Rue and I had my suspicions and was wrong of course but it kept me on my toes. I will say the first few pages are a little slow its kind of piecing the last book and this one together but once you get past that and you get into it you will be fully into it!! There are so many twist and things you aren't expecting that's going to happen in this book! So glad part 2 was out and I was able to read it Rue definitely is black girl magic! I can't wait to see what else the author has planned for the future because I will read it!
