The character development in this book is astounding. How did I go from being annoyed by both protagonists in the beginning to falling in love with them only a few chapters in? Their individual voices were so clear that it was easy to see them exactly as they were, which allowed me to witness firsthand their growth both introspectively and as members of society.

This is more than a story of young love. It is a story of acceptance and introspection and learning to create your own boundaries and your own moral compass. Wren, in particular, demonstrated beautifully how a person can take the standards and rules that have been engrained in them and, by giving the people around them the chance to be open with them, use them, reflect upon them and, ultimately, make better decisions that more positively affect not just you but the people around you. Wren’s journey from a naive, judgemental and conservative daughter to an independent, free-thinking and, most of all, accepting woman is truly beautiful.

In other news,
who spends $1.2 million on their girlfriend of like three weeks?! How much was in Crew’s first trust fund?!
