This was a fun one. Because it's historical you can't tell that it's a mid twentieth century novel. This is the first of twelve in the series. I'm unsure how quickly I'll return but may go find Demelza at the library. Mostly I picked this up a whim because I enjoyed the start of the show on PBS with an old friend. I may circle back to the PBS drama because it's so moody and fun. All in all I like the characters and the warmth found in Cornwall among Ross Poldark's people. The descriptions of the sea made me smile. Demelza lying in a field watching the men cut the wheat is charming. It took a bit to get the story off the ground, but once it did I turned the pages quickly enough.
