I feel conflicted about my review of Annie Bot. I both enjoyed it and was bored. The premise is interesting. An explorations of what it means to be human, autonomy and artificial intelligence. I often had to remind myself that Annie was in fact a robot and when ruffled (read incensed) by Doug's very nicely tendencies did have to ask myself: is it wrong to want your very expensive appliance, no matter how sophisticated and humanoid, to serve you? Conclusion: Yes, Doug can choke on his quiche.

At one point I caught myself in the following confusing thought spiral: This book isn't particularly interesting, but my thoughts about it sure are! Which is maybe a credit to the book??

Then I realized my issue with the book is that the thoughts and debate it inspired really could really have been accomplished with a one-paragraph prompt.

I loved the last ten pages. At only 231 pages... maybe read it if you want? 🤷‍♀️
