I have to say that this book was incredible in comparison to the first in this series. The stylistic parts of the Bone Witch that I didn't enjoy, like the dual POV and time jumping, worked perfectly in The Heart Forger. I think that is purely because the Bone Witch sets the rest of the series up so well.

The Heart Forger continues to follow Tea in her quest of the present and her journey of the past. This story, now well set up thanks to the events of the Bone Witch, continues on to reintroduce characters from the past into the present as well as ask and answer more questions.

I think this writing style really added to the events of the Heart Forger. We know the end of the story whilst the rest is falling into place, it is entirely interesting to unfold. It really makes me appreciate the Bone Witch more, but it was not as fast paced as the Heart Forger.

Teas relationship with Kalen flows wonderfully through this story. There was no guessing about would they, won't they, it was just a matter of when. It was beautiful.

I did often find myself a little confused with the sheer number of characters in the audiobook, but that was probably my own lack of attention to the differences between them.

Overall I think this was much more my speed than the Bone Witch, and I kind of wish we had this pace from the beginning.
