Utopia Falls by Kody Boye

4.0

First, I was given a copy to review by NetGalley.

Second, kudos to the author on world building and characterization. As I was reading, it literally felt like I was living in the world of Utopia, because that's how descriptive and inventive this world was to me. And the god? How alien and terrifying and beautiful would it be to witness a living god day and night? Manifesting for all to witness, yet like any god, so incredibly impenetrable to everyone except for its chosen, the Holy Conduit.

This novel literally had me on the edge of my seat till the very end and it's rare that I haven't guessed at the ending like I normally would. And, it's true with this novel. I got to the end... and thought, that's it? Honestly, I would have to say the ending is my only criticism only because I wanted to see what happened next. Up until that point, the story was flowing, I was so involved with the characters, and I really wanted to know how all of it would end, and it really wasn't an ending I was expecting. Nor was I expecting this book to have a sequel, so I can say I am a little disappointed by the ending, but it still is a very well-written book.
