The Death of Jane Lawrence by Caitlin Starling

2.0

To be frank, I did not enjoy this book overall.

The beginning felt promising, and it had an interesting premise - why does Jane's new spouse stay at another home and why does the stay impact him so much? What is going on in that house?!

Then, the plot became less intriguing and more bizarre, which I may have enjoyed but not so much this time. The construction of the plot was a bit lacking. I recommend an alternative title, "Mexican Gothic" by Silvia Moreno-Garcia if you are looking for a whirlwind of a strange book with awesome gothic vibes.

Themes: unconventional marriage, magic, paranormal, mathematics.

CW: gore, blood, medical content, drug use, child death, miscarriage.
