This is definitely for younger readers than me but going back and rereading it, I still absolutely loved this book! The link to the Cottingly fairies is odd (as it implies that both them and the girl in the letters exist in this canon, rather than the story being a complete retelling of the real event, as I'd misremembered) and I also found one of the plotlines very predictable, as I remember thinking when I first read the book. However, aside from that plotline, the story does have some twists and turns as well as still holding up to that spirit of exploration and wonder I remember it having as a kid.
