Unruly: A History of England's Kings and Queens by David Mitchell

3.0

at one point the author says that he's center left politically and bud, We Can Tell. there was another earlier point in the book where he says something about mediocre british people succeeding in something but i don't remember the exact quote and im not skimming the audiobook to find it but insert that quote here with my commentary of: and this includes writing a book of history.

this book is for people who are british and don't know a lot about the early history of the monarchy told in an unserious manner. it helps if you find the author already funny but i don't know who he is as a comedian and i'm not british and while i appreciated the long tangent about the ending of the most recent james bond movie, it wasn't entirely for me. i will cut the guy some slack however because he never once claims to be a proper historian, and is just a comedian writing a book on history.

if you asked me to rate this book when i first started it, i would've been generous at 2 stars, but i took a break while i was off work and picked it back up again when i started back at work for the week and that plus the bit at the end with shakespeare warmed me up to it a bit.
