My Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5

My Overall Thoughts/Impressions: Leah Johnson delivered with her second YA novel. I had to listen to this one on audio because that was the only format my library had it in, which I don't typically like to listen to fiction, but the audio was well done here.

Leah crafted compelling L/B characters who were already out and let them explore and grow into themselves. She also artfully tackled some difficult themes like gun violence, violence, and the pressure teenage girls can face sexually and double standards there. She has a way of tackling heavy issues without being overhanded. Another great one by her. I hope she continues to write more YA books soon.

I love the rich and vibrant diversity she explores in her books. I'm happy she's now writing some MG, but I hope we see more YA from her soon too.

Content: Very few instances of strong language, violence, gun violence. The author's content warning also mentions a few others that readers may want to know about.

Love,
