Honestly, I'm Totally Faking It
by Amanda Gambill
I'm really surprised this hasn't blown up yet. I walked into it expecting another relatively good story. What I didn't expect was one of the funniest books I have read this year. It was giving rom-com vibes in the most ridiculous ways. The characters were engaging, and the plot was absurd enough that it constantly kept you on your toes. I read this in 6 hours, and I enjoyed every minute.
Usually, I steer away from a single POV just because I like knowing everything, and while I would have loved to get in Pres head, I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything by just hearing Rach's thoughts.
The only thing I was kind of iffy about was Rachel's lack of self-respect at the beginning, but the beautiful thing about stories and characters is that they grow and change. By the end, she was still positive and bubbly but also willing to stand up for herself.
Lastly, I love the cover. I loved it so much that I was surprised I hadn't picked it up before yesterday. It doesn't feel too cartoony, which I love because it helps make the fact that this book is targeted towards adults slightly more obvious, unlike other books, cough Icebreaker cough.
Anyhoo I loved this and I will 100 percent be reading anything else she writes.
I could even get over my ick of smoking.
