The Deepest Breath by Meg Grehan

1.0

This book just wasn’t for me, but I’m also not quite sure why it rated high for so many. It’s written in verse and I felt that the lines were fairly underwhelming. My guess is many appreciated it because it’s offering representation of a little girl realizing she has a crush on another girl and how she works through those feelings. There are so few middle grade books written about that. I just thought this one was lacking feeling, much beauty in language, etc. I’m glad it is out there, but it just speaks to the necessity for more books with representation for all ages.
