This sequel is considerably different from any of the Netflix seasons of the show. I found this a much more interesting and better written book than the first, and I LOVED the first book.
The focus is almost entirely on Paige and Preacher, adding much more detail, nuance, and character development than the first book and Netflix show. Paige finds refuge from a storm in Virgin River's local tavern, where Preacher immediately recognizes that she's a troubled woman in need. A woman who is running from an abusive ex. If I hadn't read book one or seen the show on Netflix, I would think that Paige and Preacher are the main characters of this book series. They seized my heart from the first chapter. I have never finished a book this fast in my life it was soooo good!
