A story by a booklover about a booklover 😏 This is a great holiday-themed book and I can definitely see myself reading it again and again to get into the holiday spirit! But this book is not just for reading during the holidays. Chelsea Curto has written a touching slow burn where two people learn how to work on themselves by slowly falling in love with each other. Bridget helps ease Theo’s anxiety so he can live in the moment instead of the past. Theo gives Bridget a safe space where she can feel and process all of her emotions without feeling judged. Plus, Bridget becomes a confidant to Theo’s 12-year-old daughter, Mac, and I think watching that happen really solidifies Theo’s feelings towards her.
It takes Theo and Bridget a while to get spicy but the build up definitely makes it worth the wait! They both haven’t been in a serious relationship (or even a fun fling) in years so it makes sense for them to take a while to go from neighbors to love interests. Compared to some of Chelsea’s other books, this one has more of a mix of open and closed door scenes. I’m currently hopscotching around her collection and I think she is becoming more confident in her ability to write spicy scenes as time goes on. If you’re looking for more spice, definitely go read her “Love Through a Lens” or “DC Stars” series 😉
