Nova by Samuel R. Delany
4.0
Better late than never. When I first began reading sci-fi in the 1980s, I never heard of Nova or Samuel R. Delany, and in fact didn’t hear of either until a couple of years ago (2018 or so) when I was reading a historical retrospective about Black authors in science fiction and fantasy. So I added this to my list and finally found a copy.
The story is interesting, an interstellar quest of a kind I hadn’t seen before, and full of diverse and interesting characters. The conclusion is satisfying (none of this “wait till the rest of the trilogy” mess everyone’s doing now), and I’m happier for having read it.
(I published a longer review on my website.)
