Battle Ground by Jim Butcher

4.0

Much better! This is back to what Butcher writes best; noire mysteries and fight scenes.

This was also just one long fight scene, don't expect anything more. It seriously goes on a lot, and there's some pretty grim stuff. Typically for a Dresden book a few main characters die, that's not a spoiler. There's been a lot of stuff set up for future books and honestly it feels like more has been set up than explained which is a little frustrating. There's also a lot of power creep here now; how can he get stronger? He's got people bound to him more powerful than anything else living or dead, seemingly infinite will, and it just feels like.... it's getting too much.

Has recovered from the misogyny in the last book by more or less writing the women out at the start and not having any appear for most of the rest of it. That's..... better?
