Harley Quinn: Mad Love by Paul Dini, Pat Cadigan
4.0

Harley Quinn’s origin story! Call my cliche; Harley Quinn was always my favorite villain in the DC world.

This was such a fun read! I enjoyed the writing style (the writers took the time to write out Harley’s Brooklyn accent) and the subtle flow from Dr. Harleen Quinzel into her descent as Harley Quinn. Of COURSE the therapist nerd in me geeked out while reading this.

The biggest flaw, in my opinion, is the writers’ fictitious use of psychiatric diagnoses. It seems they pulled from the DSM-II when there is a 5th edition of the DSM currently in use. This book was was published in 2019, and while the writers seemed to do their research into the world of psychiatric diagnosis, it would have been better if they used updated terminology.
