The Hungry by Steven W. Booth

2.0

I have been on a zombie kick lately and had hoped for another book similar to "The First Days: As the World Dies" by Rhiannon Frater. Unfortunately, I had no such luck with this one.

Sheriff Penny Miller gets caught up in a zombie attack and barely makes it to her ex-husband's home. The two of them take off together in search of safety, but nothing seems to go well for them. They first meet up with some angry bikers, and then later with soldiers trying to contain the outbreak.

I didn't really believe Penny's overly tough attitude, nor did I care about her or the other survivors. The Hungry was also too juvenile for my taste. Here are some examples of the ridiculous things that came out of Penny's mouth:

F*** a duck
Sh** on a shingle
Turds on wheat toast
Jesus on a slice of wheat toast
Poop on a Popsicle

Many of these are repeated NUMEROUS times. Enough already!

This book is fast paced...I'll give the authors that. But it's just not very good, and I cannot recommend it.
