I struggled with the structure of this book, the time line leaps around to different topics and flashbacks. I have to agree with the reviewer who said it would have been better written by someone else, as a biography. As an autobiography and given Maria Ressa's achievements, it can at times subjectively read as egotistical. I do not think Maria Ressa is like that at all, it's just the occasional tone of the book due it being written in the first person. I also find myself with little room to move on the points I may disagree on. On the positive side, I think Maria Ressa is very dedicated to her cause, she is an inspiration. A brilliant champion of human rights and democracy. Maria backs up her words with plenty of resources and data, definitely challenging some of the dominant, populist narratives of our time.
