A Storm of Swords: Steel and Snow by George R.R. Martin

3.0

I am slowly getting into this series, I am pushing myself through the books and I always find after the first 3rd I am truly into it and find it difficult to put down. The only downside is that the first 3rd to the first half can be a real slog to get through. George RR Martin is very descriptive with his writing, which I don’t think is a bad thing, but when the action isn’t really going anywhere it can very difficult to get through. After getting past the 40% mark in the book; I was really enjoying myself and felt invested in the story. The same thing happened with the 1st and 2nd book. It takes me well more than 1 month to get through these hugeeee books but they 100% worth it.

The characters:
I believe the characters are developing a lot and I am quickly finding characters I love reading about, a couple of these are:

Brienne
Jaimie
Arya
Jon
Daenerys
I am still not getting on with the Catelyn or the Bran chapters of the storyline and find myself complaining as I get to them. Samwell and Davos viewpoints also get brought into this book, which is interesting as we get to see the plotlines develop from another two different characters views. I am really really rooting for Jaime and Brienne and I am excited to see how these two grow in the upcoming books.

Final thoughts:
I am 100% carrying on with these books. I haven’t seen all the TV series I have seen bits as my husband has watched them but I am hoping to ask him questions throughout to see how they are differing from each other.

I would recommend this series to people who love EPIC fantasies and who loves reading a complex world from multiple peoples POV’s
