i’ve read a lot of new (to me) middle grade recently, and NONE have compelled me with plot or characters as much as this one! it was simply a page turner! it had plot twists, interesting descriptions, characters arcs, and it made the subject of boats SOMEHOW fascinating!!! there were moments that my heart was beating x10 to know what was happening!
all that is to say, although i really enjoyed this book, it’s not SUPER my style (even though i did really enjoy it!). but i think it absolutely excels at what it does—that’s how i try and rate things.
