Kill Joy by Holly Jackson

3.0

I’ve been meaning to get around to reading this little prequel to A Good Girl’s Guide To Murder for ages. I wanted something quick and easy to read after finishing the brutal thriller that was Clown in a Cornfield.
One thing that I have to point out about Killy Joy was that after reading AGGGTM and GGBB, I was constantly on edge, and always thinking that something really bad was going to happen. Obviously this was just a little prequel novel, and nothing serious really happened. I had a feeling that it would be this story would be in a vanilla type style. I was right, it was pretty much exactly what I was expecting. But I also think it would have been cool to have just a little bit more mystery. It would get to a climax moment and then all would’ve rationally explained and I was left feeling a little disappointed. After reading the other two novels, I just wanted a bit more, you know?
It was a good little instalment, you don’t necessary need to read it to read the other books in the series, but it’s a nice little bit of content for people who really love the atmosphere and series.
It’s definitely made me more excited to get stuck into the third book in the AGGGTM series and has put me in the right mood for mystery!
Holly Jackson’s writing is so easy to get into that I was able to efficiently fly through this and finish it with ease.
Check it out if you love Pip and her brilliant mind!
