This was very much the vibe of but for the grace of God go I because I read it after the covid-19 pandemic. I'm glad I read it now and not before 2020 because it was too real. I think if I had read it at the time of quarantine this would have been very scary, but instead reading it now it's more reflective of what could have been.

I avoided reading this for a long time because I thought King Lear was going to be far more important to the plot than it was. I also thought this was going to be more about people acting in Shakespeare plays as a traveling troop whereas that was only convenience to the plot to get people to move around. It had very little to do with the book so I'm glad of that as I'm not a Shakespeare fan.
