A Touch of Crimson by Sylvia Day

I am not sure what to say about this book. I liked the story line, the writing was pretty good, but while reading I found myself to be enjoying it, then bored, then enjoying it, then bored, etc. This book didn't keep me enamored the whole way through like I wish it did.

First off when I started it I was immediately reminded Fallen by Lauren Kate, in the sense that he has loved this girl for centuries and due to something he did regarding her, he has Fallen and now goes through life always missing her. Only for her to show up as a reincarnation for a short time before dying again. Both this and Fallen have that same idea.

I noticed while reading that Sylvia Day never actually explained how she keeps dying. To compare it to Fallen again, Luce died once her and Daniel kissed (or sometimes merely touched) but Day gave no such explanation. I had to assume fate took each of her lives. One maybe a car accident. Another illness. Another maybe a vampire attack. But the fact that I have to guess this (which may be even wrong) is not something I enjoyed about this.

I was hooked with the beginning and the final few chapters at the end. But a large chunk of the middle I found myself trying to hurry through.

It's not a terrible book. I'm not sorry I read it. It's just not one I'll ever reread
