This book was 500+ pages. I only enjoyed the last 100 or so, hence 1 out of 5 stars.
Why in the heck did this have to be such a slow starter? After all I've heard about Atwood's brilliance, this must have been absolutely the worst book to start with.
So. Incredibly. Boring. For so long. I mean yes, the story came together in the end. And by the end, I mean I had to drag myself through at least 300 pages before I gave one single care about ANYTHING that was happening. What a drag. Interesting plot, but was so buried under a muddy, slow-moving, disjointed narrative river that it's a miracle I didn't drown like Laura Chase before I got to the end.
