The Taming of the Queen
by Philippa Gregory
For a lot of the book I had no idea why it was called the Taming of the Queen, but it becomes clear at the end. This book shows pretty well the irrationality of Henry at the end of his life. It must have been terrifying to live only at his whim. There's also lots of the history of religion in here, which could make for a slow read if you're not into that. There's less court intrigue than in some of her other Tudor novels, and more theology. Basically I'll read anything about this time period and I like her writing.
