Darkship Thieves by Sarah A. Hoyt

3.0

This was a fun sci fi adventure with some really interesting ideas, like trees that grow in space and produce power pods as fruit. My rating is really closer to 3.5 stars, and I kind of want to give it four, but I don't think I can because of the tropey romance and the way the main character's story arc goes. I loved the book in the beginning, but by the middle it kind of settles into space adventure/romance cliches. That doesn't mean it's bad or not enjoyable or that there aren't still a ton of surprises waiting, but I had some trouble getting over those things. I guess the romance aspect was just a little too overpowering for me. I like my science fiction a little heavier on the action, a little lighter on the romance. But there's still plenty of action here. I'll probably read the next book in the series, because the concepts Hoyt presents are fresh and interesting, and I'm curious to see where she takes them.
