This book was just beautiful, heartbreaking, warm, sweet, and more!
Adunni is a 14 year old that just wants to go to school and be more educated than she got a chance to. She is sold instead, by her father, into a marriage as a third wife to a man that wants a son born to him. She is treated terribly, especially by the abusive first wife. She runs away just to be essentially sold again to be a housemaid for a rich man and wife. She's again treated horribly, but along with this new place comes some great friendships. These new friends help her find the potential inside her and help pave the way for Adunni to go back to school.
It takes a bit to get used to Adunni's way of speaking, but I love the uniqueness of it. It made me fall in love with this wonderful teenager- her determination, her spirit, and her resilience!
